Advice on Relationship Issues by Counselors

If there is a relationship there are problems, there is no relationship without ups and downs says relationship counselor Dr.R.K. Suri (Founder – Psychowellness center, Mentor – Talktoangel) by his experience of guiding people. Fights, stress likes, dislikes, and differences of opinions are common things in relationship and there is no relationship where there is no problem. So there is no relationship which is perfect it’s you who can make it “perfect” or you can make it “break”.

At the start of the relationship, it’s a fairy tale of happily ever after but relationships need constant maintenance to remain for healthy. Today’s stressful world is identified by lack of patience or wrong expectation, busy lifestyle, and more accessibility to the outside world of the friends, in such a scenario a relationship needs to be nurtured constantly or else it always ends up in Break up. To avoid breakups or relationship issues it’s necessary to maintain balance in the relationship.

For a successful relationship, it is important to have a better understanding of each other’s differences. Here when we are talking about relationship issues it is not just marital relationship or about boyfriend or girlfriend, it can be your relationship with your family, the relationship of father and son, mother and daughter, the relationship of you and your friend, etc.

Whenever I see my patients with relationship issues, one of the common things which I found in most of the cases is PATIENCE, says Dr.R.K.Suri. Nowadays people have become so much impatient. For example, standing for a long time at a red light signal will make you impatient. Many times I have noticed people honking while standing at a red light. Dear honking will not turn red light to green and get you moving. This impatient behavior starts making you restless, annoyed whenever you find things are not going as you wanted. You will not realize this at first, but it becomes your nature to loose temper frequently. And when you start losing temper frequently problems start arising. So I advise people not to be impatient else it will become your habit.

Most common relationship issues are:

  • Lack of communication or no communication
  • Negative or inconsistent communication
  • Anger, Arguments, Frustration or Embarrassment
  • Sexual Issues
  • Unfaithfulness both physical and emotional
  • Lack of quality time
  • Dominating personality
  • Financial secrets
  • Disrespect, Abusive language

According to Dr.R.K Suri, the best relationship counselor in India people should go for counseling if they notice continuous red flags or bumps in their relationship. Relationship counseling is used as a methodology to improve the communication, sharing of feelings, listening with empathy, and rekindle the same respect, trust, and love that you had at the beginning of the relationship.

Communication is an important part of any relationship. Generally, when a problem arises it is because of lack of communication or no communication at all. For example, when you have a bad time in your relationship you stop communicating. Sometimes when you don’t communicate to avoid a fight it’s ok. But when it becomes your habit to not communicate it’s a bad sign. Why? When you will not communicate there is no chance that your other partner will be able to understand your point. Eventually, it will result in something bad only. So communication is important, you need to speak your point. If you find communicating difficult, it’s time to take help from someone who knows how to fix this. A counselor !!

A counselor listens to all your problems and helps you by focusing on understanding, behaving maturely, and giving tips on good relationships. Each session with a counselor is based on an agenda and suggestion to improve behavior towards each other.

Why counseling is important?

A major problem in the relationship arises because of communication, either no communication or negative communication so when you go for counseling a counselor listens to both partners and their problems individually. A counselor listens to you both individually with patience, now you have someone who is listening and understanding your problems. In short, you get to explain your problems to someone who understands how to fix your problems. After listening to both partners a counselor analyzes your relationship and starts explaining and giving rules to be followed on a daily basis for the betterment of the relationship. The therapist or counselor employs different techniques, exercises, and tools in session depending on issues that the couple seek assistance in. Adjusting skills, working action, respect, reduce friction are worked upon in the following sessions in relationship counseling.

If you are experiencing problems or issues in the relationship than don’t waste time and seek relationship counseling for saving your relationship by best relationship counselor in India Dr.R.K Suri at the psycho-wellness center.
